This
is the gold standard micro surgical technique used for
cosmetic removal of large surface varicose veins. With
this procedure, the most superior cosmetic results are
attained, typically leaving the procedure site virtually
scar-free.
In the presence of significant "leakiness / reflux"
of the saphenous or other vein, Endo Venous Laser treatment is performed at the same time, or prior to Micro Phlebectomy.
For this reason, the surgeon must be highly skilled
in doing both procedures to attain the best possible
results in one sitting.
Patients with the larger painful bulging veins are excellent
candidates. Micro Phlebectomy is highly successful and
predictable procedure and generally only require one
treatment to achieve successful removal of the target
vein(s).
It is done safely in the office under local anesthesia with no need for hospitalization.
Tiny incisions / stabs 1 - 2 mm are made at the affected site
through which the unwanted veins are gently extracted
with specially made micro hooks. Incisions are so small
that sutures are not needed. Actually incisions are
made with a needle (18gauge) not with a knife. The large
scars of traditional vein surgery are replaced with
pinpoint scars if any.

There is minimal discomfort associated with Micro phlebectomy.
Most patients return to normal activities within 24
hours.
Following Micro Phlebectomy treatment, there is
occasional bruising, redness and puffiness to the skin, with
some tingling discomfort that usually disappears in
24-72 hours. Rarely, some patients develop a significant amount
of bruising over the treated leg veins that fades away
over longer period of time.
