Micro
surgery is reserved for large and extensive varicose
veins, usually over 5 mm in diameter. Most patients
have incompetence (leaky) valves involving the great
saphenous vein or one of its branches. To determine
if micro surgery is necessary, several tests may have
to be performed such as Venous Doppler, Duplex Ultrasound
Imaging, Photoplethysmography, or Light Reflection Photoplethysmography.
When surgery is indicated and the treatment of choice,
several micro procedures are available, used separately
